Best of One Ok Rock

The Best of ONE OK ROCK

One OK Rock, is a Japanese Rock Band, formed in Tokyo, Japan in 2005. The band currently consists of Takahiro Moriuchi, Toru Yamashita, Ryota Kohama, and Tomoya Kanki. They play many different styles of music, with songs ranging from alternative rock and emo to post-hardcore and pop rock. Their experiment with US Style Pop-Rock mix has been quite successful.

One Ok Rock has released 9 Studio Albums, 2 EPs, 22 Singles, 12 Video Albums, 6 Cover Versions, and 32 Music Videos. Their 3 Studio Albums have peaked at #1 on Oricon Japanese Charts as well as 3 Gold and 5 Platinum Certifications by RIAJ.

I personally noticed the band after hearing their song "Mighty Long Fall" from the album 35xxxv which played during the end credits of live action movie adaptation of Rurouni Kenshin - Kyoto Inferno. The song peaked at number 2 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 & Oricon Japanese Charts. Similarly, "The Beginning" was used in Rurouni Kenshin and "Heartache" in Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends.

Track List: The album features 13 Songs. Total album length is 45 minutes and 44 seconds. Songs average between 3 min to 3 min 30 scs in length. The second list mentioned in the image below is the International version under review.
Album Review: 4 out of 5 Stars
Lead Vocalist Takahiro Moriuchi takes his singing to another level. He adds that the band "challenged and pushed ourselves to try new things while still maintaining the essence of what our band is" for this album. His words are clear and soulful.
What makes this album so special is that it's so unique and different from their previous ones which honestly don't stand a chance since they are purely Rock based. These songs do get into your head which is basically what you want as a hardcore music fan. As for the Music Videos I will give them the skip.
Songs such as Stand Out Fit In, Head HighChangeLetting Go, Unforgettable and The Last Time stand out in this album.

Track #2: Stand Out Fit In (3.5 out of 5 Stars) is sung in lines/style of Adam Levine. The song is about not giving in to peer pressure. Moriuchi wants to be "a positive force for Asian-Americans".

Track #3: Head High (5 out of 5 Stars) is a powerful Electronic beat uptempo song that gets you in the groove. A wonderful composition and sticks in your head. That's what you want!!

Track #07: Change (4 out of 5 Stars) is a classic with brilliant lyrics and slow ballard type composition.

Track #08: Letting Go (3 out of 5 Stars) is a nice Pop ballad.

Track #12: Unforgettable (4 out of 5 Stars) has a sweet Melody and is a classic Pop track. Moriuchi wants to be Unforgettable to his fans through his songs and live performances.

Track #13: The Last Time (4 out of 5 Stars) is yet another powerful song with great lyrics and beats (note the drumming).

In the Charts: The album debuted #1 on the Oricon Charts & Billboard Japan Hot Albums. In Billboard it ranked #25 for US Digital Albums & #49 for US Top Album Sales. In Australia (ARIA), it ranked #19.

Bottomline: A must listen/buy album for sure!!
