ExWHYZ is a Japanese Idol Group formed back in 2017 by WACK as EMPiRE but were re-branded to ExWHYZ in 2022 and re-debuted under EMI Records.
When WACK pulled off another outrageous stunt in dissolving a Idol Group with promise (EMPiRE) one feared will the suffer the same fate as sister groups like BiS or Gang Parade?? But the change turned out for the good.
EMPiRE is one of the Idol Group with great promise which I covered in my blog back in December 3, 2018, the held their own and were the flagship group of WACK but there were some doubts about where they were headed. Founding Member Midoriko illness and hiatus was an obvious concern.
Nevertheless, ExWHYZ released their debut album, XYZ, through EMI Records on November 2, 2022 followed by their first tour and the second in April 2023. Their second album, Xanadu, was released on April 19. They released their third studio album, Dress to Kill, on March 2024.
On May 13, 2023 just nine months after the group's launch, they successfully held a solo concert at Nippon Budokan, "ExWHYZ LIVE at BUDOKAN the FIRST STEP".
Their highly free sound making, centered on dance music, has been highly praised from all quarters with many domestic and international creators collaborating including Shinichi Osawa, Kenmochi Hidefumi (Wednesday Campanella), Seiho, Shin Sakiura, Shinoda Mill + Yamada Kento (yahyel), and 80KIDZ.
