IM Nayeon

For the first time, NAYEON from KPop Super Group TWICE released her first/solo mini-album, 'IM NAYEON,' on June 24 through ‎JYP Entertainment / Republic Records.

JYP Entertainment released a teaser image announcing that the TWICE member will be releasing her first solo mini-album through a debut teaser image on May 19th.

According to the label, the name of the EP, “Im Nayeon” has a dual meaning as it stands for her real name, which is Im Na-yeon, and also expresses her “confidence as a solo artist by stating ‘I’m Nayeon.’”. And I am totally biased towards Nayeon ever since I noticed her in TWICE's LIKEY few years ago. She has a great voice and that smile of hers blows you away!

So why not a Solo Project one asks. A lot of KPop girl group members have started to doing solo projects which have become a massive success for the labels. BlackPink, Girls Generation, (G)I-DLE groups have had a few members do solo projects which were successful.

Record breaking:

Nayeon Becomes First Female Soloist of 2022 To Have Highest Stock Pre-Orders (more than half a million) for Solo Debut Albums and the album also sells 120,000 copies on Day 1. These are mind blowing figures for an individual of a popular KPop group.

During a press conference in Seoul on Friday, Nayeon said:

"We have achieved many feats over the past few years as a group and I believe now is a very good time for us to start solo projects and showcase our various sides,"

"As I geared up for my first solo mini-album, I think I pushed the envelope. I was afraid of singing alone in the past as I was not used to this, but this time, I learned a way to do so and also realized how much I love singing."

"Through this EP, I hope people can see how a TWICE member can pull off such a different concept. All songs included in my mini-album have summer vibes and they sound quite sweet."

Tracklist:

IM NAYEON' is comes with 7 new songs including the title track "POP!", "No Problem (feat. Felix of Stray Kids)", "Love Countdown (feat. Wonstein)", "Candyfloss", "All or Nothing", "Happy Birthday To You", and "Only The Sunset Is Pretty (literally translated)". The total playtime of the album is a tad under 22 minutes. Nayeon herself wrote lyrics for "Love Countdown" and "All or Nothing". Other lyricists and composers featured in the EP include British DJ Shift K3Y, British singer-songwriter Jade Thirlwall and American record producing group The Stereotypes.

The two standout songs are POP & No Problem.

POP! features lyrics by Lee Seu-ran • Music by Kenzie, Hayden Chapman, Greg Bonnick, Ellen Berg • Arrangement by LDN Noise. It's a super groovy song. The colorful music video shows Nayeon seen in pastel jackets is enjoying a milkshake, donuts at a sweets shop/cafe, as well as dancing by a pool (with swimmers) in the brief teaser. A full MV is out now on YouTube.

According to JYP Entertainment, the lead track “POP!” has been “carefully composed to represent Nayeon’s image as a solo artist". Not to mention they might have spent a fortune on the lavish huge sets and Nayeon's fancy clothing as well.
