BEYOOOOONDS
BEYOOOOONDS (ビヨーンズ) was formed in October 2018. The group is managed by UpFront Works and is under Hello! Project. Their current sister groups include JPop Idol Super Group Morning Musume, and others like ANGERME & Tsubaki Factory. They debuted in 2019 and went on to win the "Best New Artist" award at the 61st Japan Record Awards. They are signed with Record Label company called Zetima.
They released their debut single, Megane no Otoko no Ko / Nippon no D・N・A! / Go Waist, on August 7, 2019. The 1st and 2nd single hit #1 on the Oricon Japanese Weekly Charts selling close to 111,000 and 70,0000 copies respectively. The group has so far released 3 Singles and 1 Album to date.
The 12 Members collectively known as BEYOOOOONDS, is formed of three units, "Chica#Tetsu" led by Ichioka Reina, "Ame no Mori Kawa Umi (雨ノ森 川海)" led by Takase Kurumi and "SeasoningS" led by Hirai Miyo. They are a good looking bunch of energetic Idols with excellent singing both in Studio as well as in their Live Performances.
Musical Style & Group: It's basically a mixed bag. Music is mostly composed by the great Japanese Composer Hoshibe Sho (a true JPop legend). A very new take with lot of Modern Elements in their music which is basically very upbeat and fast, some even covers of popular European and Western tracks would you believe. And not to mention their signature Public Service Announcements err... BEYOOOOONDS Announcements in mostly all their songs at the beginning, in the middle or at the end. They have some cute, some super talented, some extremely gorgeous and a boy with the glasses (lol).. just kidding. Its an all girl group. Nevertheless, they have established their signature style which is so needed to be unique JPop Idol community and just not to be wannabe Idols.

Konna Hazu ja Nakatta (It Wasn't Supposed To Be Like This!) - is a satirical take on the Life of an Idol, with not only mentions of fellow Hello Project Groups but also other Popular JPop Idol Groups including the Super Groups for good measure. The song is an A-side from BEYOOOOONDS's single, Gekikara LOVE / Now Now Ningen / Konna Hazu ja Nakatta!. Read my full feature/blog of this song HERE!
Gekikara LOVE (The Hottest Love) - talks about how hot love can get, featuring the members in a Restaurant atmosphere serving very hot and spicy meals. The song is an A-side from second single, Gekikara LOVE / Now Now Ningen / Konna Hazu ja Nakatta!. 『Go Waist』- 1.1 Million Views (YouTube - Mar'2022)
Go Waist is another satirical take on popular pop song "Go West" by the Village People where the group change their direction from West and focus on their WAIST in this MV with an 80's Fitness Tele-shopping plot. Very Hilarious. Go Waist is an A-side from their first single Megane no Otoko no Ko / Nippon no D・N・A! / Go Waist and a track on their album BEYOOOOOND1St. The song has really improvised take on the original and it sounds great, but the rap bits sound ridiculous, without which this would have been a blockbuster cover! Eguchi Saya runs a fitness boot camp.
Japanese Lyrics: Kodama Ameko
Composition: Jacques Morali
Arrangement, Keyboard, and Programming: Okubo Kaoru
