This is a one-off special blog on the Japanese Idol Group BEYOOOOONDS's song Konna Hazu ja Nakatta! (こんなハズジャナカッター！) which literally means It Wasn't Supposed To Be Like This! The song is the 3rd Title track from their 2nd Single Gekikara LOVE / Now Now Ningen / Konna Hazu ja Nakatta! released on March 3, 2021.
Quick History:
BEYOOOOONDS (ビヨーンズ) was formed in October 2018. The group is managed by Hello! Project who also manage JPop Idol Super Group Morning Musume, and others like ANGERME & Tsubaki Factory. They debuted in 2019 and went on to win the "Best New Artist" award at the 61st Japan Record Awards. They are signed with Record Label company called Zetima. The 2nd single hit #1 on the Oricon Japanese Weekly Charts selling close to 70,0000 copies.

Music: Fantastic composition and arrangement. A double punch of Violins, EDM/Piano with a combo of superb Bass & Drums makes it a perfect song musically. Along with the goofy choreography it perfectly blends in with the song. A combination of Traditional Japanese bits and modern Western sound.

At first look the song ma look comical, ridiculous and as Noel Gallagher of Oasis once call his song "Shakermaker" - a Random Nonsense. But, after careful examination the meaning comes out. Some say it is a revolutionary Idol Song!
The lyrics of "Konna Hazu ja Nakatta!" feature indirect references to several idols within and outside of Hello! Project. The phrase "nantetatte idol" at the beginning of the first verse is a reference to Showa era idol Koizumi Kyouko's song of the same name.
The first verse references other Hello! Project groups: "morning routine" (Idol - Morning Musume), "shinsen na juice de" (Idol - juice = juice), "shinshin tomo ni beri kyuuto e" (Idol - Cute), "tenshi no smile wo chokusou like a factory" (Idol - Tsubaki Factory). The choreography during "like a factory" is a reference to Country Girls' VIVA!! Barairo no Jinsei. Angel Smile referring to Idol - Angerme.
The second verse references various popular idol groups outside of Hello! Project: "sakamichi no tochuu" (46 Groups - Nogizaka, Keyakizaka, Hinatazaka, Sakurazaka possibly), "yotsuba clover" (Momoiro Clover Z possibly), "48-mai mitsuketa yo" (AKB48 & other 48 Groups for Sure), "yorokobi isshun ni denpa suru like a family" referring to some School I hear. Somewhere there is mention of Joy pointing at BiSH and Dempagumi.inc would you believe.
