SolaSound: "Watch out, a new idol has appeared!!" This is the introduction given to SolaSound, a trio comprising of Mana, Nakoda and Hibiki.
The Album: 'Story' is their debut album with 12 tracks with the self titled debut track (their ground breaking intro) Story, No Doubt and Natsu No Mai. It was released under Mastard Records (HMV) & Art Sound. Available at cdjapan.co.jp & amazon.co.jp
The Song: "夏の舞" - Natsu No Mai. It's an absolute classic. Starts with a vocal solo with piano drops providing an intro and then kicks into high gear with powerful guitar/bass jam. Then the girls take turns to sing out the verses. In the album track if you listen carefully, the bass almost gives a vibration and sounds jarring, the only negative in my view. The drumming too is fast paced, almost military. But the girls don't stray away or experiment too much, sticking to the basics giving a punchy hit. The guitar solos through the song are phenomenal. Played with precision, no blips or screeching. What I liked most is that the song actually ends with the song's title at the very end. How cool is that.

Music Video & Live Shows: Strangely not much is available. The official video so to speak is from one of their live shows at Music Farm. It has been filmed very well capturing the 3 girls beautifully keep in mind the theme of the live performance. The girls take turn to sing their verses and then collectively join in the chorus to pack a punch throughout the song. Camera work and Editing is superb. Choreography not bad with simple steps. Definitely one for the Music Video collection.
