Brand-New Idol Society

Brand-New Idol Society (a.k.a BiS) is one of the best things to have happened or not to have happened in Japanese Idol Music & Entertainment industry. Known mostly for their Anti-idol tactics, Crazy, Creepy, Sick & Disturbing PVs & MVs there is no questioning the talent and quality of the songs & music they have dished out over the years.

Fronted by founder Pour Lui who gave up on a solo career (basically a failure what she reckoned at that time) to form a Idol group basically to destroy the Idol culture that plagued Jpop music scene, just like Linkin Park was sick n tired of Pop (Backstreet Boys, N' Sync) who created their own signature style. They disbanded at Yokohama arena after a monster 3+ hour show in 2014, only to reform in 2016/17 to take a new direction (or misdirection) managed by 'WACK' jobs.

BiS didn't taste success overnight. Their smash hit 'Nerve' had to go thorough multiple transitions to become ultimately recognized and to date is the most played song by the group ever!! And then the big publicity stunt to grab attention by running through a haunted Japanese forest 'Naked' for their MV 'My Ixxx'. There were many more such MVs, but I will leave it here. Most of BiS the members were bold enough to get naked or semi-naked for their Videos or Photo Shoots.

I give them 10/10 for the wonderful hits, but they are definitely not those you would like to follow as individuals, the all kinks of shady stuff, it's abysmal (a 'BiS' maul) !! Get it!

BiS reformed in 2016 with Pour Lui leading fresh batch of recruits cutting down of shady acts but still maintained a bad attitude and punk image.

For most of their time span the music has been rendered by the mega talented musician Kenta Matsukuma, a key factor for the popularity and success of BiS. It's really sad to know he was not documented anywhere for his efforts but nevertheless a silent killer and one of best things to come out of Japan for me!

Born as Araki Rui in 1990, she was the founding member of BiS. A gutsy, bold, ambitious character who took  no prisoners! Immensely talented she did a couple of solo albums before forming BiS. She also formed Lui Frontic Akabane Japan after BiS disbanded in 2014. Great voice and has been spearheading reformed BiS for most of it's time before graduating in March 2018 and joining Billie Idle group. Her farewell tribute MV DiPROMiSE from single WHOLE LOTTA LOVE/DiPROMiSE was captured with moments from her past  She also got suspended during her final days with BiS for not meeting the target weight of 50kgs (documented in DiET or DiE). Most of the songs feature her vocals in main lines forming the base of the track and if you are not able to recognize her voice you gotta be kidding me. But sometimes she can sound annoying. Currently a member of Billie Idle. Also runs a successful YouTube channel called Brand-New YouTube Society.

Has a great deep voice, Tall & Lanky, Excellent singer/performer. She was a member from July 9, 2011 to May 26, 2013. Joined the group in 2011 replacing Yokoyama Rina, in time for BiS Single - nerve. She also starred in the 2012 film Idol Is Dead. She opposed Pour Lui and the BiS Management's thoughts. This lead to tensions and her exit from the group in 2013. Idol MV is her unofficial tribute, so to speakAfter departure from BiS she became a solo artist/idol.

Hirano Nozomi Studio Singing: 2/5 Dancing Skills: 4/5 Live/Stage Singing: 2/5 Looks: 3/5 Born in 1992, she was the founding member of BiS. Very heavy voice, you can barely hear her in any songs. Very cute looking in some videos. Hirano was the only member other than Pour Lui who had been a member throughout the group's entire tenure. She starred with Pour Lui in Idol Is Dead 2012 film, which also got a sequel in 2014, Idol Is Dead -Non-chan no Propaganda Daisensou-, of which Hirano played the lead role.Now a member of Billie Idle, the "4 in 1: THE OFFICIAL BOOTLEG", "Douse Kieteshimau Inochi Nara..." was herself a personal tribute MV  with former BiS members First Summer Uika, Michibayashi Rio, Tentenko and Kamiya Saki also sang and appeared in the video in which the buid Domino's together and No-Chan makes them fall. Can be cheerful and calm and then suddenly turn unstable, volatile, cranky and angry at times. Yurika Wakisaka Studio Singing: 3/5 Dancing Skills: 3/5 Live/Stage Singing: 3/5 Looks: 5/5 Born in 1992, 'Wacky' BiS has a sad story. Joined alongside Michibayashi Rio in 2012. He first single was PPCC and the last was BiSimulation. he did the infamous 100k run in 2013, even though she had ankle related issues and succumbed to cramps with few kms from finish, said to have taken a heavy toll on her health and eventually forced her to graduate on medical grounds. Hitoribochi song was filmed on these events and ended up being her Tribute MV. Very good looking female. Another member who you will fail to notice in BiS songs cause you can mistake her voice for Yufu's. Still an avid BiS supporter, after graduating BiS, she has spent most of her time focusing on university studies. Always - Godspeed! Rio Michibiyashi Studio Singing: 3/5 Dancing Skills: 4/5 Live/Stage Singing: 3/5 Looks: 5/5 Born in 1991, 'Michel' BiS has a great smile and is very good looking with a soft voice. Joined with Wacky BiS in 2012. He first single was PPCC and the last was Fly/Hi. The MV of Fly was dedicated to her. Dropped out of BiS in Sep, 2013 for a stable pay and a desk job. She came to the BiS Disolution concert in 2014 wearing her work clothes and danced to opening song nerve. Cuteness Personified. Hugs!! Said to befriend other cute members of other idol groups.. interesting.. Pour Lui and First Summer Uika attended her marriage in 2018.

First Summer Uika: A perfect TOMBoy!! Nice clear aggressive voice. A showstopper in her own right and a born leader with take no prisoners attitude. Formed Billie Idle with Nozomi.

Tentenko: The little pip-squeak of BiS. Very kiddish voice that you can recognize immediately. Not a great live performer. Excellent dancer. Mediocre DJ post BiS disbandment. Pocket Rocket!! She may be short, but very mature for her size.

Kamiya Saki: Another Notorious, Rowdy, TOMBoy & Troublemaker!! Very high pitched voice. Sometimes she lacks modulation. But nevertheless a solid performer with a punchy voice. Phased out of Pla2me, POP and was traded over from BiS over to Gang Parade. She's not afraid the take a stage dive!!

Megumi Koshouji: Megumi has done her part for BiS keeping aside her DJ'ing for a while. Her fillers were simply perfect and her voice complemented that soothing and pleasant hearing pretty evident in FiNAL DANCE / nerve single. Post the 2014 disbandment he joined Maison Book Girl.

Post Disbandment New Recruits:

Kika Front Frontale: Yepp, the one with a face paint (since 2017)! Trained Baker we here. She did amazingly well during auditions and was drafted in to main BiS lineup. Another leader in the making, mentoring new BiS members. Good loud voice and great tallent. After BiSLeague she was relegated to BiS2nd.

Aya Eightprince: Another great singing talent who did well at the auditions. Tall and Lanky, after her initial stint with the group, she spent some time over at Gang Parade eventually returning back to BiS. After BiSLeague she was relegated to BiS2nd.

GoZeela: She is the Confused one! Has a subdued voice. Sort of a slacker when it comes to her performance. After BiSLeague she was promoted to BiS1st. Got her stage name agter she ware a Godzilla T-shirt to BiS Auditions.

Peri Ubu: The Sobbing Soap Opera queen. A cry baby on stage. God she does get emotional. But she has been through a lot. Made to eat a bowl full of Hot Chilli Paste to earn her spot in the lineup. Did suck at her singing in her early days but now she is a performer. A child like voice (similar to Tentenko) but not one with high pitch. After BiSLeague she was relegated to BiS2nd.
