Rei Yasuda Album Reviews

Rei Yasuda (安田レイ or Yasuda Rei - Japanese Stage Name), is an American born, Japanese Singer and Model. She portrayed and co-voiced the character Lumi, the fictional lead vocalist of Genki Rockets in 2006. Her real name is Rachel Rhodes and she was born in NC, USA.

Yasuda decided to pursue a full-time music career after graduating high school in 2012-2013. She debuted as a solo singer in 2013 under Sony Records. She was nominated in 57th Japan Record Awards for Best New Artist in 2015. She has released 3 Studio Albums and here is a quick review of them.

WILL was her first studio Album and was released on October 8, 2014 by Sony Music Japan. WILL ranked first on the Japanese iTunes Store's J-Pop Top Album chart and second on the Overall Album chart. Physical sales figures unavailable. It has 6 great songs and "Mirror" is the best.

2nd Album Release:

PRISM was her second studio Album and was released on February 3, 2016 by Sony Music Japan. Prism ranked first on the Japanese iTunes Store's J-Pop Top Album chart and second on the Overall Album chart. Physical sales were not that great and sold a mere 5,863 copies. 9 out of 14 songs are great and "Signal" is the best song along with You're the One and Kirameki Moonlight.

After listening to the preview, I realized this is an awesome album filled with some great songs, beautiful singing and awesome music. Signal (シグナル) is definitely the best song. Other good songs are Mirror (acoustic ver), Just for you, Supercar, My way My life, Kirameki moonlight (キラメキmoonlight), 1AM, Tweedia and You’re the one. Definitely one for the collection.

Re:I was her third studio Album and was released on March 8, 2018 by Sony Music Japan. Physical sales were the least than last 2 albums and sold a dismal 1,478 copies. I found 3 songs to be good. Over and Over is the best song, along with Classy and Blooming.

Bottom-line: Rei give a whole new feel to contemporary JPop Music with a nice American touch. A very strong voice with good modulation. My personal recommendation to have these songs in your music player/playlist!!

Songs like: Over & Over, Not the End, Signal, Let it Snow, You're the One and Kirameki Moonlight are simply brilliant.
