(G)I-DLE members go SOLO

(G)I-DLE members seem to have gone in a different direction ever since Soojin's alleged school bullying surfaced in late February. Following that YUQI and SOYEON have gone on to release SOLO Singles back to back. 

Apparently, it all started with actor Seo Shin-ae had recently accused (G)I-​DLE's Soojin of bullying her in middle school. This did not go well with the Management who decided to remove Soojin from (G)I-DLE song following her bullying controversy. That is a real shame. Soojin was a Vocal Talent of the Group.

YUQI - A Page

Let's get back to the topic of discussion. Whether Soojin's removal triggered a change in (G)I-DLE's future course is debatable, but in May 2021, YUQI was set to release her first solo single. The singer announced over at her official Weibo account on 5 May, and unveiled the single album's title, 'A Page', along with its 13 May release date. The single has 2 songs: GIANT | BONNIE & CLYDE, both songs are performed completely in English.

JEON SOYEON - WINDY

Jeon Soyeon, the stylish rapper of the group next got in on the SOLO act with her mini-album titled "Windy". It was released on July 5, 2021 with "Beam Beam" as the album's title track. It was an instant success and hit #1 on the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart in no less than 21 countries. 

Soyeon for the album dons a more carefree image with a Summer Theme. Windy is sort of a parody, taking a dig at American fast-food chain, Wendy’s. Soyeon used this concept that and even staged a fake launch for the grand opening her ‘Windy Burger’ just hours before the release of the album. 

The rapper-songwriter has also got herself involved in lyrics as well as the production of all 5 tracks of this mini-album. The total play time for 5 songs is 14 min 4 secs. Other tracks include Weather, Psycho, Quit. Track #5 ‘Is this bad b****** number?’ features Lee Youngji and BIBI.

Not so long ago.... The "MINNIE" Act!

Also it has to be noted that MINNIE do did a similar project without the other (G)I-DLE members of the group, not exactly a SOLO act but featured alongside Australian YouTuber Wengie. It was released on October 18, 2019.
