SKE48

SKE48 is an idol girl group produced by Akimoto Yasushi, debuting in October 2008. They are signed to avex trax, and were formerly signed to Lantis , CROWN GOLD labels. SKE48 regularly perform the stage show at Sunshine Sakae in Nagoya. 

They are the 1st sister group of AKB48. SKE48 is made of 4 subgroups. Team S, Team KII, Team E and Team Kenkyuusei. SKE48 has had 175 original members over 10 generations (not including Draft, Kennin and transferred members) and a total of 198 members (Plus Draft, Kennin and transferred members). As of December 2019, SKE48 currently has 48 members and 29 Kenkyuusei.

Some members from the 1st and 2nd generations never spent time as Kenkyuusei but rather formed later either Team S or Team KII. The remaining members spent time as Kenkyuusei before they were promoted to teams. Throw in Drafts and Transfers, that's confusing stuff. How do you manage such huge group of girls I wonder??? I am not getting much into member details anyway. Let's leave it there.

Some of my biased members of the group are Matsui Rena, Jurina Matsui, Suda Akari, Nojima Kano, Yamauchi Suzuran, Furuhata Nao, Ryoha Kitagawa, Takahata Yuki and few others who appeared on SKEBingo episodes.

The music style is pretty much as any typical Japanese Pop Music genre - JPop Idols with Girl Groups singing either Solo, Duo, Trio or singing collectively in Chorus. They also incorporate the dreaded 2 music switch which can change the tempo and flow of the music. 

Their TV Variety Show - SKEBINGO! Gachi de Oshibai Yarasete Itadakimasu is not to be missed as members of the idol group SKE48 take on different acting challenges each week. In the final episode 8 members are chosen to portray the characters of famous Shakespeare drama "Macbeth". This 12 episode series is hilarious and at times intense too. Worth a watch!
