Kyary Pamyu Pamyu

In this blog I feature the sensational Kyary Pamyu Pamyu and her Super Hit songs PonPonPon, Candy Candy, Fashion Monster, Ninja Re Bang Bang and Kira Kira Killer.

Kyary Pamyu Pamyu - PonPonPon

Perhaps the most insane and weirdest video ever made in the name of Pop, PonPonPon by J-pop artist Kyary Pamyu Pamyu became a viral hit on YouTube closing in fast on 140 Million Views ever since it was published in 2011. It is basically a tribute to Kawaisa and Decora culture. Video also shows Kyary parody some Japanese TV shows. The theme of the video is about a girl who is lost in her own imaginary world, with a messy room that needs to tidy up with a whole host of real-life and imaginary characters coming and going in sequences in 2D/3D. You never know what's coming out the window next!! Watch this video and you'll know what I'm saying.. Here goes nothing....

Now I Guess This Should Be Your Reaction!

Well... That's PonPonPon.. A distortion of all things pink and much more. From microphone stand coming out of Kyary's ear to Popping & Revolving Eye Balls, Flying Orange Shark, Floating Brain, Faceless Cross-dressing Male Dancer, A Battle Tank, Birds Flying out of Kyary's mouth, Distorted Kyary's Face, Pterodactyls, 3D Skulls & Heart, Fish, Turtle, Goose with Bullet Crown, Boxing Gloves, Pogo Stick, Unicycle, Large Bone, Melting Eye lids, Hats, TV, Bumble Bee, Lion Statue, Toaster, Bread Slices, Tokyo Tower, Polar Bear, Tree Branch, Hand (in flesh & bone), A Guitar, Flowers, Donuts, Ski-Mask, Feet, Golf Balls, Dice, Horses, Unicorn, Magnifying Glass, Prehistoric Skull, Animated Clock, Apple, Sword, Whale, Pig, Broken Tooth... Phew... And Overwhelming Subtitles, Is there anything left out! Oh and the Toys, Rags, Clothes, Daily Use Items, Rubbish and Snack Items etc. scattered across the room.. It's A Mess Out There!! Willy Wonka & Oompa-loompas for all!

Music Video Rating: Complete Graphics Eyewash (not withstanding the entities in the video) - I would give it 3.5 out of 5 Stars. You will not want to want this video over and over again.

Choreography: 4 out of 5 Stars. Very easy steps and perfectly performed. Nothing flashy!

Song Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars. The song is very catchy and groovy. Nice rhythm and well conducted. Easy Listening! Pop Certified.

Kyary Pamyu Pamyu - Candy Candy

And Let There be more Insanity and Craziness.. Honestly there is no end to this cute and sweet madness which forms the theme for her not so viral hit (by PonPonPon standards) even though it is fast approaching 40 million videw on YouTube is Candy Candy. You can definitely relate it to PonPonPon with reduced mayhem and chaos, that does not mean it sweet by any standards of imagination. A obvious parody of 80's Anime and Manga by a girl with a sweet tooth. Dancing on stage with her duplicate selves with a talking Onion added for good measure. Sigh! The rest you have to watch it yourself to make out what it is!! Crazy Stuff!! Featured in Glico BREO CM candy TV Commercial in Japan.

Music Video Rating: Not much graphics and more real-time video - I would give it 3.5 out of 5 Stars. Again, you will not want to want this video over and over again. Semi-Graphics Eyewash.

Choreography: 5 out of 5. The best of the lot. Some complex dance moves performed by a group of 5 along with Kyary! Awesome performance!! Very energetic!

Song Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars. Very similar tune to PonPonPon. Nice rhythm and well conducted. Easy Listening! This is better and bigger than PonPonPon! This is a perfect example of what not to do if you already have a great tune. Experimentation doesn't always pays off and trashes the song more often than not. Not in this case. This is pure perfection! Singer + Composer are in sync and deliver a JPop masterpiece!

Kyary Pamyu Pamyu - Fashion Monster

Now that's more like it... No Graphics Eyewash.. Real-Time Video.. But wait.. Fashion Monster.. Ahem.. Ok.. That's Hip considering the number of monsters in the room jamming together to a nice tune.. More in the spirit of Halloween I guess. Kyary on Guitars, Frankenstein on Drums , A bunny headed Man, Humanoid Cousin IT (the Hairy guy Adams Family) and what not. Another video that is quickly closing in on the 40 million mark on YouTube in terms of views.

Music Video Rating: Not much graphics and more real-time video - I would give it 4 out of 5 Stars. Again, you will not want to want this video over and over again. Excellent choreography.

Song Rating: 4.5 out of 5 Stars. Very J-pop 'ish. Awesome rhythm and excellently conducted. But I think I heard this tune somewhere before. That's naughty!! Easy Listening! It could have done without the little rhythm/tempo change for a brief moment in the final segment. Could have been a 5 starer!!

Kyary Pamyu Pamyu - Ninja Re Bang Bang

This Traditional Japanese Sounding Electropop Hit from Nanda Collection is another worthy mention but, it doesn't make the Top-3 due to the Ninja themed Intros to the verses (sounds lame, but that's my view). The single was certified platinum by the RAIJ for PC downloads. The song peaked at number one on Japan Hot 100, and became her first number one hit.

Music Video Rating: Graphics Eyewash again. 4 out of 5 Stars. But it has a nice tune to it during the vocal parts and choreography is excellent. And those dancing Mickey Mouse robot animation is so cute!!
