Hinatazaka46 conquer Tokyo Dome

Hinatazaka46 finally got their wish come true as they held a two day 3rd Anniversary Special at the mega arena for Idols - The Tokyo Dome on March 30th (Wednesday) and 31st (Thursday). And I'll be damned if I didn't discuss about this in my blog!!

This is the group's first Tokyo Dome and the event was titled "3rd Anniversary MEMORIAL LIVE ~ 3rd Hina Birthday Festival ~" (3周年記念MEMORIAL LIVE ~3回目のひな誕祭~) !

Announcement at HinaKuri 2021

The event was announced at the end of HinaKuri 2021 performance at Makuhari Messe Hall in December.

Over these two days an overwhelming 100,000 fans packed the arena over the two days making it a grand success. Originally scheduled for December 2020, the event had to overcome several challenges and COVID scares to finally get the nod this year to go ahead. The event brought together their Past, Present and Future so to speak!

Performing Members:

Hinatazaka46 1st Generation:

Ushio Sarina, Kageyama Yuka, Kato Shiho, Saito Kyoko, Sasaki Kumi, Sasaki Mirei, Takase Mana, Takamoto Ayaka, Higashimura Mei

Hinatazaka46 2nd Generation:

Kanemura Miku, Kawata Hina, Kosaka Nao, Nibu Akari, Matsuda Konoka, Miyata Manamo, Tomita Suzuka, Watanabe Miho

Hinatazaka46 3rd Generation:

Kamimura Hinano, Takahashi Mikuni, Morimoto Marie, Yamaguchi Haruyo

Hiyori Hamagishi, was absent from this performance due to Coronavirus infection, while Kosaka Nao made an emphatic return after her hiatus. She is also going to be center of their upcoming 7th single "Boku Nanka".

Nevertheless, Hinatazaka46 continue to hold on to their roots as captain Sasaki Kumi said that she likes singing Hiragana Keyaki songs. The performance included about half of the set list and 12 Hiragana Keyaki songs, including the songs re-recorded under the name of Hinatazaka, which were performed for two days.

The group initially appeared dressed in the group's famed blue color.

Then they switched to a white outfit, white top with grey skirt, also some other mix and match colored outfits.

In conclusion at the encore, captain Kumi with tears in her eyes made this statement - "Tokyo Dome is a special place, and I was really looking forward to it. But there were times when things didn't go well. But I'm not the only one who thinks that way. However, it really strengthens my heart!"

"What I have been cherishing since the time of Hiragana Keyaki is still in our hearts."

"When I started singing with his promised land, I thought this was my goal, but today this is another place for my departure. From here, I'm aiming for a new place. I would like to continue to make my dreams come true together with you. Thank you for your continued support of Hinatazaka46. I would like to see the best scenery! ".

The arena sparkled through and was illuminated in colors of the Rainbow and was a true spectacle in itself.

Interesting Notes from the Event:

Kosaka Nao and Miyata Manamo performed in limited number of songs as they were still recovering from poor health. Sasaki Mirei appeared intermittently on first day, for unknown reasons. They actual rehearsals were held at Makuhari Messe Hall rather than the Tokyo Dome itself. Japanese magazine BRODY's special issue (2022 June issue) was released on 22 April 2022 due to hugh demand. The event was streamed online as well.

They follow the footsteps of their peers and  former parent group Keyakizaka46 which held LIVE at Tokyo Dome ~ARENA TOUR 2019 FINAL~ (欅坂46 LIVE at 東京ドーム ~ARENA TOUR 2019 FINAL~) in September 18-19, 2019 at Tokyo Dome while Nogizaka46 held their Summer National Tour 2017 Final! @ Tokyo Dome as the final leg of the Nogizaka46 Summer National Tour 2017, on November 7th and 8th, 2017.
